3/4 c sugar
1 1/2 c milk
5 cakes semi-sweet chocolate
3/4 c butter
1 1/2 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
3 c flour
1 1/2 tsp soda
3/4 c milk
Cook first 3 ingredients until they resemble a medium thick syrup; allow to cool then add vanilla. Dissolve soda in 4 tbsp cold water. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, well beaten, next the soda dissolved in water. Mix well. Add flour and milk alternately and beat lightly; add part 1 and beat again. Pour in lined cake pan and bake 40 minutes in 350 degree oven.
